Coping with life-threatening illness or loss can be overwhelming and isolating...
We can help.

The Shira Ruskay Center offers social work services, spiritual care and volunteer support based on each client’s needs and preferences.

Our social workers and Rabbis provide information and referrals, counseling, support, advocacy and education — and can assist in accessing services needed. We are available by phone, in person, or to make visits to homes and hospitals. Specialized bereavement support groups and community programs are available throughout New York City.

We are with you in the community
Confidential services for individuals are offered free of charge, and can be provided in-home, by phone, or at one of our offices throughout NYC. As a program of JBFCS, we serve people of all faiths, races and cultures, in addition to our core mission of serving the Jewish Community.

Doula to Accompany and Comfort
Volunteer "Doulas" serve people at the end of life, especially those with limited supports. Doulas can minimize the sense of isolation, provide emotional comfort, and assist with practical concerns. This program is non-sectarian and serves the entire community.  [Learn more...]
